The St. Joseph County Police Air Posse is continually seeking quality candidates to join our Reserve Officer program. Being a Reserve Police Officer is among the most rewarding volunteer opportunities available in the law enforcement and public service fields. Reserve Police Officers serve without compensation along side our Merit Officer counterparts in duties required by the department. Reserve officers serve in patrol, detentions, special operations, disaster response, and community events as sworn law enforcement officers.
Application Process
A Reserve Officer recruit must meet strict standards for appointment including.

Training Requirements
Once accepted, you will complete a demanding training program. Training is typically conducted on evenings and weekends. It consists of classroom, firearms training, arrest and control tactics and procedures.
Costs
Reserve Police Officers must provide their own uniforms, duty gear and weapon. After completing training, the department will provide additional details regarding specific requirements and local vendors.
How Much Time is Required?
Reserve Officers attend monthly communication and training meetings. Additionally you must qualify with your approved weapon and meet annual training requirements. Members are expected to serve a number of community events during the year, and be on-call for for the needs of the department.
